The Old Tuttle Farm House
According to the Schuyler Country Historical Society, the 19th century farm house that is now home to The Professors' Place was built by Adrian Tuttle in 1885. Adrian was the son of Daniel Tuttle, a grain farmer who owned 200 acres of land upon which the house was built. The original farm house, attached to the back, was built in the 1830s. The Tuttle house was sold in 1920 to the Sterling Salt Company, which is known today as the U.S. Salt Company. For over half a century it was used as a residence for salt company executives. In the 1970s, the house re-entered the private market. The professors bought the house in 1998 for their home and the home of Cascata Winery and the new Professors' Inn, B&B, along with the art gallery, "Art by Coralee."
